Salvador Mallo is a film director in physical decline who reflects on his past. Mallo starts to think about his childhood in the 1960s, when he emigrated with his parents to a village in Valencia, Spain, in search of prosperity. He also reminisces about his first adult love in Madrid in the 1980s, and the pain of the breakup. Salvador also remembers his discovery of cinema, and the void, the infinite void that creates the incapacity to keep on making films.
