Pessimistic New Yorker Martha is terminally ill and has moved to a retirement community in Sun Springs, Georgia to die. The relentlessly cheerful residents and laid-back lifestyle in her new home are not a good fit for Martha, until her bubbly neighbor, Sheryl, convinces her to pursue her long-discarded, teenage dream of being a cheerleader. The two new friends form a cheerleading squad composed of other senior women residents who are game for a little fun and enter a competition, facing setbacks, physical limitations and snarky teenage rivals along the way.
