
A young, orphaned J.R.R. Tolkien finds friendship, love, and artistic inspiration among a fellow group of outcasts at school. Their brotherhood strengthens as they grow up, weathering love and loss together, including Tolkien’s tumultuous courtship of his beloved Edith Bratt, but the outbreak of the First World War threatens to tear their fellowship apart. Eventually, all these experiences inspire Tolkien to write his famous Middle-earth novels.
