Ex-con Lars Nystrom raids a central Stockholm bank and takes hostages, demanding the release of his old partner in crime from prison. As negotiations with police hit a wall, Lars begins to develop an uneasy bond with the hostages, especially a female employee, Bianca, whose strong connection with her captor later becomes the psychological phenomenon known as "Stockholm Syndrome."
