Dez Truss, a 17-year-old caught boosting cars for an auto-theft ring, is given one last chance to set his life straight by a compassionate mentor. He introduces the kid to Rick Radden, a former race car-driver-turned team owner who agrees to house and supervise Dez for the summer in exchange for manual labor. Dez begins working for Rick’s professional but underperforming dirt-racing team, using the skills he honed while stealing cars. He becomes a vital member of the team but not before his past threatens the safety of Rick’s family and livelihood.
