In near-future Quebec, a new law allows parents to bypass the court system and commit problem children directly into state care. Nevertheless, widow Diana makes a last ditch effort to keep her volatile, 15-year-old son, Steve, out of an institution by homeschooling him with the help of a mousy, withdrawn neighbor.
