While Sarah serves as a devoted Carmelite nun in a Brazilian convent, her twin sister Gaëlle serves time as a convicted child killer. Priest and physician Father Joachim is called in to diagnose Sarah's searing abdominal pain, but can find no physical cause for her distress. Father Joachim teams up with an intrepid reporter to investigate the illness and finds a horrifying psychic connection between the twins that leads to the unearthing of a shocking secret.
