2001: A Space Odyssey

Before the dawn of humanity, evolution was influenced by a large, black monolith placed on Earth. In the year 2001, humans have mastered space travel, and Dr. Dave Bowman and Dr. Frank Poole are leading a mission to Jupiter. Three of the five astronauts are in a state of hibernation, and the artificially intelligent computer HAL 9000, controls all the ship’s functions. "Hal" is considered infallible, but he has been behaving strangely. Dave and Frank do not know that the computer possesses classified knowledge about the discovery of another monolith on a lunar outpost. When they suspect him of malfunctioning, they prepare to take steps to override him, but Hal cannot allow that.
